About AORN Los Angeles Chapter
Welcome to AORN of Los Angeles, more recently known as the Los Angeles Electronic Chapter (LAEC) of the Association of Operating Room Nurses.
AORN of Los Angeles held its first meeting at the then Glendale Sanitarium, currently Glendale Adventist Medical Center (GAMC) in 1952. We have come full circle, having our past few meetings at GAMC.
Mabel L. Crawford organized the group in 1952 with the same mission and vision as we have for our members in 2011.
Jerry G. Peers was active in our chapter and served as our fourth President. She was a pioneer in the formation of our current national organization. She became a National Board Member and eventually Director of AORN. Many of our members have been presented with the Jerry G. Peers Distinguished Service Award for significant contributions to the growth, progress and welfare of AORN. Our annual conference also includes a Jerry G. Peers Lectureship series providing distinguished speakers on current influential topics.
As you can see our Chapter is rich in the history of the now Association of periOperative Registered Nurses. Please view our archives to take a walk back to our founding colleagues.
You will find that our mission, vision and philosophy has not changed. We continue to be the professional organization of perioperative registered nurses whose mission is to promote quality patient care by providing its members with education standards review, services and representation. The networking and collaboration support a lifelong learning process that enhances perioperative nursing practices.
